The new stand-alone Dzire
Suzuki South Africa has just launched the new Dzire range, which will now be a model sold separately and not as the sedan version of the highly praised Swift. Looking at its sales figures, the Dzire comes to South Africa as the bestselling B segment car in India, where it sells 25,000 units every month!
Although the Dzire may look similar to its new Swift sibling (from the front), with similar large headlamps, chrome detailing and all-round LED lights, the new Dzire has been developed around the philosophy of being a family-friendly and driver-focused sedan.
Inside, the Dzire has been equipped with a new infotainment system and instrument panels. As standard, it is also equipped with air conditioning, front- and rear electric windows, 2 front airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
The higher-level GL range has also been equipped with a 12V socket, a Suzuki audio system, Bluetooth, USB, front fog lights, electrically adjustable side mirrors and multi-purpose steering wheel.
Similar to the Swift, the Dzire also has the new HEARTECT chassis, which improves on safety and overall weight. The total weight of the new Dzire is 890kg, only slightly heavier than the smaller Swift models.
The new Dzire has 18% less drag coefficient, improving fuel economy and interior space. Fuel consumption should therefore be around (claimed) 4.9 litres per 100 km.
Inside there is 55mm more legroom for the rear passengers, with 10mm more shoulder width. Whereas the Swift has 276 litres of luggage (boot) space, the Dzire has 378 litres, which is 78 litres more than the previous Swift sedan.
As in the new Swift, the Dzire will also make use of the K12M engine, which produces 61 kW (at 6,000rpm) and 113 Nm (at 4,200rpm). The 1.2 litre four-cylinder engine drives the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. An Automated Manual Gearbox is optional for GL models.
Prices:
Suzuki Dzire 1.2 GA Manual R161 900
Suzuki Dzire 1.2 GL Manual R177 900
Suzuki Dzire 1.2 GL AMT R191 900
All Dzire models will be sold with a standard 5 year / 200 000km warranty and a 2 year / 30 000 km service plan.
