Launched: 2022 Honda HR-V

Honda South Africa have just launched the all new Honda HRV, which is a complete new, premium car from the ground up. We were privileged to be invited to the local launch in South Africa, and with no further delay, herewith our launch report.

We all gathered at a swish wine estate where we were welcomed by a finely crafted JDM (Japan Domestic Market) breakfast just before the veils were lifted off all four available colors of the new HR-V: Opal White, Meteoroid Grey, Cherry Red and Brilliant Sporty Blue.

At first glance, in the flesh, the new #HRV certainly communicates a premium vibe with its stylish yet simplistic flowing lines. Inside the cabin, the focus is on good visibility which compliments the whole new advanced Honda Sensing System which adds a host of new safety features. The well-known Honda “magic seats” are again standard across the range, which elevates practicality and is a big selling point, especially for people with an active lifestyle.

We headed out towards Malmesbury, and from the word go, the ride felt firm, but with a layer of premium absorbsion on some of SA’s picturesque back roads. The all-new 1.5 litre engine delivers a healthy 89 kW of power and 145 Nm of torque, which rewards you with a claimed 6 l/100 km. We are looking forward to our test unit, so that we can confirm those claimed figures.

Currently we will only have the 1.5 litre mill available across the range, but we could expect a hybrid version in the near future.
