It wasn’t easy choosing the finalists for our 2019 #NamWheels #CaroftheYear competition, seeing that 2020 got off to a bit of a rocky start… Nevertheless, here are the results of our annual award:
The finalists

Fun facts: We piloted a total of 88 vehicles in the 2019 calendar year. Of those, nine were booked twice (A250, Amaze Sedan, C180, Duster, Koleos, Kona, Kuga, Mazda2, MX-5) and a few others even more often (Corolla, mu-X, T-Cross) due to special reports or spec/trim/drive-train differences.
From the above list, our main journalists and freelancers chose their top three (3) favourites which gave us the following list of winning vehicles…
The winners
- Volvo XC40
- Kia Grand Sedona AND Mahindra XUV300
- Toyota Corolla Hatch
- Ford Ranger Raptor
- Mitsubishi Triton
Two second places? Whoops, sorry. Because of our limited amount of votes, the versatile Grand Sedona and impressive XUV300 received the same amount of points, thereby earning them a joint second place!
