Op die plaaslike mark is Fiat nou nie een van die groot spelers nie. Maar wat seker is, is die feit dat hy ‘n klompie vurige ondersteuners het en dat Fiat ‘n reeks motors het wat getuig van oorspronklikheid en dat hulle pioniers was op sommige gebiede.

Having recently had the pleasure of testing the big Range Rover Vogue, I am severely pleased that I don’t possess the bank balance to afford such a car. Yet. With the 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged taking up most of my driveway, I’m glad I don’t have to choose between the two.

The disappointing drop-top
You should never meet your heroes. They might turn out to be rude, stupid or suffer from halitosis. In other words, quite disappointing. To be completely honest, the Volvo C70 T5 I tested recently was only mildly disappointing and is actually an offspring of my chosen hero, the plain but elegant C70 Coupe from the dawn of this century.

Reviewing a cheap hatchback isn’t as simple as it may seem. Yes, they are devoid of radar-guided twin-climate subwoofers but unlike the 6-figure monsters we occasionally test, they represent the other end of the automotive scale. The end where most people, yours truly included, tend to shop.

No time for chit-chat this week, I have a lot of stuff to work through with our latest test car, the Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8. If you think that name is quite long, you should cast your eyes upon the car itself. I can’t recall when last I drove a car that is, mostly, taller than me.

Diese Woche habe ich keine Zeit für schlaue Sprüche oder albernes Gelaber, ich brauch jedes Wort um unseren neuen Testwagen, den Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8, anständig zu beschreiben. Wenn Sie denken, daß der Name etwas lang ist, sollten Sie sich mal den Wagen ansehen. Ich kenne nicht viele Autos die, meistens, höher sind als ich.

Die akzeptable Alto’rnative
Günstige Kleinwagen sind nicht umbedingt einfach zu Testen. Ja, es fehlt ihnen meistens an Radar-kontrollierten Doppelxenon Bildschirmen aber sie verkaufen sich häufiger als 7-Ziffer Schlitten, und somit muß man herrausfinden ob der billige Flitzer auch wirklich etwas taugt.

Afrika Kroonprins
Die Prado VX is waarskynlik die koning van voertuie in Afrika. Dié van ons wat al regtig rowwe paaie en wilde riviere deurkruis het op pad Kongo toe, kan daarvan getuig. Soos ‘n paar jaar gelede wat ons met groot bravado ‘n rivier in volle vaart deur is sodat die voorste GP nommerplaat losgeruk het en vandag iewers in die Atlantiese Oseaan dobber; dit terwyl die man in sy VX rustig halfpad deur gesto het om sy voertuig ‘n slag weer te was!
