What you need to know: Renault’s fourth-generation Clio arrived with new technology, great prices and fantastic looks – its fame was short-lived though because it hit a few wobblies with quality and servicing. RS stands for “RenaultSport” and is the hot-hatch model for battling Polo and 208 GTi’s.

Tested: Renault Clio RS

The party

It’s not every day that I get to test a car that I instantly take a liking to. The new Renault Clio RS, on the other hand, is exactly the sort of car that I love getting my hands on. There’s so much appeal in this little hot hatch – from its spunky shape, sporty lines, fantastic, strange angles and eye-catchingly bright metallic yellow paintwork to its slick interior, with trendy red trim and shiny finishes. I couldn’t wait to drive it.

Tested: Renault Clio 4 Expression Turbo

The fresh omission

As of this morning, my computer informs me that I have tested 298 cars, not including multiples at launches. The list is made up of 34 manufacturers and includes everything from a full electric to twin-turbo V12’s. Until this morning, for reasons unknown, this list did not include a Renault Clio.
