Sprint Review: Land Rover Discovery HSE TD6
A gigantic new car, lots of information in short paragraphs.
What you need to know: I’m not supposed to write a review on this brand-new, fifth-generation Land Rover Discovery but as a former Landy owner I felt obliged to at least get a sneaky Sprint Review in. That urge intensified after I spent a few hours with this imposing maroon metallic press car.
Padtoets: 2017 Land Rover Discovery TD6
Geskiedenis: TATA
TATA: Wat u nie geweet het nie!
Tata is reeds ‘n dekade of twee of meer ‘n vertroude naam in Namibië.
Sprint Review: Range Rover Evoque
What you need to know: The Range Rover Evoque actually started life as the LRX concept car from 2008. Completely overwhelmed by the public’s approval, Land Rover simply had to build it; the first Evoques appeared in 2011 and are a huge success for the brand.
So huge, in fact, that now every Landy looks like an Evoque. The car that gave everything else its face was built on the Freelander Mk2 platform so it isn’t really a Range Rover.
Geskiedenis: DKW
The basic luxury
Fancy equipment and new technology is good, right?
We may have a problem. Well, maybe not all of us but a very specific group of people. In fact, it’s only a tiny percentage of the population but I fear that the issue is so grave that it warrants its own set of paragraphs and a jolly good rant.
Sprint review – Landrover Defender 90 Limited Edition
Many impressions, very few words. Short and sweet!
What it is: A bright orange with black short wheel base Landy. Unfortunately unavailable for purchase (unless you can bribe someone to sell you theirs second hand) as they’ve all been snapped up!
Sprint Review: Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE Luxury
A new car, lots of info in short paragraphs.
What you need to know: The Freelander is no more. Remember that square, compact, slightly drab-looking Land Rover? Well, quite a few of my acquaintances bought its practical boxy shape and – save for owners of early examples – are happy chappies and don’t look like they’ll upgrade their Landies any time soon.
Tested: Land Rover Discovery
The good reasons
Rotten luck. Bad karma. Call it what you want but I now believe that cars can also suffer from unbreakable curses; like this poor Land Rover Discovery we tested recently. Don’t worry, it didn’t break down or fall to pieces, it just suffered the same unfortunate fate that befell all previous Discovery’s we tested.
