Another day, another expensive and over-styled pavement hopper. Or is it?

Sprint Review: 2018 Hyundai Kona 1.0T Executive
Hey, you know what? We don’t have enough compact SUV crossover thingies in our market, we need more compact SUV crossover vehicles. Inhale, feel the sarcasm, exhale. Hyundai is all-too-happy to assist us…
Padtoets: Nissan Qashqai Acenta dCi
Langpad Lanie
Tested: Mercedes-Benz GLA200 CDI
The alluring ticket
Purpose. It’s a subject I can’t shake every time I test a new car and the most fascinating topic when discussing people’s choice of vehicle. There’s no rule or law which dictates the proper use of a vehicle which is why you’ll find 4×4’s on the school run and small Asian rentals knee-deep in Sossusvlei sand.
Tested: Subaru XV
The epic tan
Last weekend I was invited to go camping for a bachelor’s party, two activities I thoroughly despise. Not wanting to be a spoilsport though, I accepted the double challenge and even offered free rides to some fellow attendees in my test car of the moment, Subaru’s XV crossover SUV.
Tested: Nissan Juke 1.5dCi Acenta+
The difficult show
It’s jolly difficult to start a review of Nissan’s Juke without diving head-first into its most distinguishing feature: those looks. Upon seeing it, some people repeatedly gasp for air and struggle to string together a set of deserving expletives while others smirk, smile and giggle at the sight of this odd-looking crossover.
Tested: Subaru Forester 2.0 XT
The flat fright
Are you in the market for a small to medium SUV softroader dad’s taxi crossover MPV? It seems that almost everybody is these days and I certainly don’t envy them with seemingly every manufacturer selling or planning the next best thing since 4×4’s went soft and cars grew legs.
Tested: 2012 Mitsubishi ASX
The flash accessory
Vying for your attention this week is the Mitsubishi ASX, a crossover SUV that arrived fashionably late in the world of “Honey, let’s buy a 4×4 that isn’t a 4×4.” You or I could criticise and mock all we like but this niche of the market is alive and well.
