The strong contender
The new Hyundai Tucson has been making quite a few waves since it arrived in our market around March of this year. Besides its double name change from Tucson to ix35 and back to Tucson again for this third generation SUV, it’s also garnered quite a bit of praise from the local media. Chicks dig it.
Honda het vanaf die intrapslag in Suid-Afrika in die 1980’s ‘n reputasie opgebou as een van die mees betroubare en soliede vervaardigers van motors op die mark. Die feit dat Mercedes-Benz die nuwe Japannese motors onder hulle vleuels geneem het kon moontlik daartoe bygedra het. Feit is dat Honda en Mercedes se paaie geskei het maar die Japannees het sy goeie reputasie behou en bou steeds daarop voort. Die nuwe BR-V nutsvoertuig bou voort op hierdie tradisie.
The bang bus
As our first launch report for 2016, it’s only fitting that it should start with a bang. Bang for your buck, that is. In a market where small city runabouts long surpassed six figures and compact luxury sedans are pushing half a bar, it’s great to know that Hyundai’s updated H1 bus range represents excellent value.

Like most of its competitors, Mercedes-Benz is on a serious mission to build more and more models in an effort to offer their products in almost every market segment. They’ve also been fiddling with their range descriptions and the latest addition slots in at the end – this new V-Class.
Die Citroëns van die ou dae het ‘n reputasie gehad van ‘n bietjie anders wees maar die laaste paar jaar was hulle maar nog net deel van die hoofstroom Europese motors. Nou het Citroën met die nuwe C4 Cactus weer ‘n model wat jy op ‘n afstand kan uitken tussen die ander. Party mense sal dink hy is pragtig, terwyl ander weer glad nie van sy voorkoms sal hou nie. In Suid-Afrika vervang die Cactus die C4 reeks.
The serious contender
As one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world, Chevrolet took a bit of strain after the recent recession yet the American giant was blessed with perfect timing as that coincided with the launch of their new world beater – a passenger car for markets around the globe – the Chevrolet Cruze.
Die Mokka is Opel se eerste sub-kompakte SNV (sportnutsvoertuig) en sal vanaf die einde van Maart 2015 in die vertoonkamers wees. In Europa is hy nie meer nuut nie, en is al aan die einde van 2012 te koop waar hy goeie sukses gehad het met verkope van meer as 24 0000 eenhede in 2014.
I’ve bought quite a few cars over the years and my shortlists usually included some or other derivative of a car which I believe to be a sensible and beautifully engineered hatchback. It’s never been the most affordable and I’m yet to own one so my admiration of the Audi A3 lives on.
