Team South Africa was crowned as the overall winners of the inaugural International Spirit of Amarok Trophy in Botswana recently. The five South African teams dominated the competition from the start and amassed outstanding 10 153 points in total.

You know, there’s something about a big, powerful vehicle that absolutely thrills me to bits. I can see the attraction of an elevated seat, ultra wide breadth and 335 straining horses packed inside a growling 4.2l V8 engine (250kW for those preferring metric).
Indifference. It’s taken me quite a while to find that word as it perfectly describes my sentiments about our most recent test car – the Audi TT. While I can’t find anything majorly wrong with this new one, or indeed the two preceding models, it just leaves me completely and utterly cold.

The serious contender
As one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world, Chevrolet took a bit of strain after the recent recession yet the American giant was blessed with perfect timing as that coincided with the launch of their new world beater – a passenger car for markets around the globe – the Chevrolet Cruze.
The brilliant plus
Although we are blessed with a multitude of cars – some may even argue abundance – there are some models which we don’t get. Next to any left-hand-drive-only examples, quite a few sub-species don’t always make it to our shores. One such car was the Volkswagen Golf Plus.
Have you ever been stung by a bee, charged by a Yorkie or kept awake all night thanks to a mosquito? There are many other examples that dynamite often comes in small packages; first you laughed, then you may have regretted it. This scenario happened a few times during my test of a Volkswagen up!
Volkswagen van Suid-Afrika het so-pas sy nuwe reeks Touaregs aan die pers bekend gestel. Hiermee het hulle weereens bevestig dat hierdie vuurwa die beste van die bestes in rowwe terrein en modder, snelweë en sand in die skande kan steek. Die naam Touareg roep immers beelde van wilde woestyn-Arabiere op kamele in die Sahara se sandduine op.
Volkswagen het onlangs twee van hulle meer semi-handelsvoertuie meer gesinsvriendelik gemaak met ‘n paar veranderings aan ratkaste, enjins en afwerking.
