Some facts: Volkswagen has refreshed its Polo range with more efficient engines and better technology, at the same time giving the hot-headed GTi a good seeing-to. Where once pounded a 1.4-litre heart, the new Polo GTi now has a growling 1.8-litre with 141kW; in DSG or Manual.
Over the years I’ve made some conclusions about cars and I’m more than happy to share one of them with you now. If you’re after a performance car, run your finger to the most powerful end of a showroom price list and slide it down one notch. That’s right, don’t buy a BMW M3. Buy a 340i.
The bang bus
As our first launch report for 2016, it’s only fitting that it should start with a bang. Bang for your buck, that is. In a market where small city runabouts long surpassed six figures and compact luxury sedans are pushing half a bar, it’s great to know that Hyundai’s updated H1 bus range represents excellent value.

So it’s finally holiday time and you’re off to the coast with your boat to visit the in-laws. Or perhaps your daughter got a new horse for Christmas? In both cases you have our sympathy.
Jokes aside though, here’s our little list of cars that can tow big loads, arranged by number of models and total weight. Please note that we based this list on manufacturer’s figures and advise that you confirm any data with your local retailer.

Die probleem om skadelike uitlaatgasse tot die minimum te beperk is gewoonlik om onder andere verstellings in die elektroniese beheerstelsel aan te bring om verrigting te verbeter.
The legendary status
Talk about a trip down memory lane. When Volkswagen invited us to attend the launch of their new, sixth generation T6 models, the manufacturer hauled out plenty of dusty memories and a few shiny examples of previous models. They even gave it an ad slogan which rightly claims that “legendary status comes standard”.
MAN Truck & Bus SA
With a history dating back to 1906, family-owned Namibian automotive company, Metje + Ziegler Group, officially opened a new MAN sales and servicing dealership in Windhoek on 20 October 2015, to meet growing demand in the region for both MAN and Volkswagen trucks and buses.
The smoother coincidence
Recent events have shoved the giant car maker Volkswagen onto its back feet but the colossus is using this situation to leap up with new focus and new products. Although it’s probably coincidence, their timing couldn’t have been better to introduce the new-generation Passat in southern Africa.
There are always reasons someone buys a car. These can range from the basic need to connect the first two letters of the alphabet to the more sensible desire for a safe, reliable and efficient mode of transport. Then there are the purely hedonistic purchases – entertaining cars like the new Volkswagen Polo GTi.
