Windhoek – Soccer players from 12 schools in Windhoek today honed their football skills in the Chevrolet Day of Play at the Katutura Youth Centre in the Katutura Township.
Disappointment. It comes in many forms, be it last weekend’s innings of your favourite sports team, the current state of my bank account or simply tomorrow’s weather. The perfect antidote to disappointment is an unexpected surprise and I most certainly got one while reviewing the Chevrolet Utility Sport.
The serious contender
As one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world, Chevrolet took a bit of strain after the recent recession yet the American giant was blessed with perfect timing as that coincided with the launch of their new world beater – a passenger car for markets around the globe – the Chevrolet Cruze.
What’s a Cruze? Think Elantra, Jetta and especially Opel Astra sedan; then slap a Chevy body on it. The Cruze is also available as a hatchback which it shares its technology with. Available with four cylinder petrol, turbo-petrol or turbo-diesel engines, this model is a 1.4 turbo-petrol Cruze LS.

One of the most popular automotive segments in the world and our country is the hot hatchback. You know the type. Medium-sized, two- or four-door runabouts minus a boot plus a whack of horsepower and go-faster bits. Today I’d like to introduce you to the latest arrival, Chevrolet’s Sonic RS.
Is there still such a thing as a bad car? I’ve been asked the question before and the best answer would be “not really”. Some Asian cars aren’t that nice but neither are their prices so it’s all relative at the end of the review. Some cars are just “ok” though, and Chevrolet’s Captiva is one of them.

As great as it is to screech around a race track in AMG’s or chase identical Audis up a mountain pass, I find it wonderfully refreshing to test an ordinary car from time to time. By “ordinary” I mean normal, sensible and something most people (including the author) could afford – like the Chevrolet Cruze.
Of all the months in a year, October surely has the worst reputation. The seasons are in an awkward change, car sales slump, scholars and students are panicking, the Christmas holidays are too far away yet big supermarkets already annoy us with merry decorations.
