In a previous edition, we told you about an amazing local initiative to clean up beaches around the Henties Bay area. NamWheels recently chatted to the main man behind the clean-up and he shared the following with us:
The legendary status
Talk about a trip down memory lane. When Volkswagen invited us to attend the launch of their new, sixth generation T6 models, the manufacturer hauled out plenty of dusty memories and a few shiny examples of previous models. They even gave it an ad slogan which rightly claims that “legendary status comes standard”.
The cheerful combo
Cars can be so boring. White and silver boxes stuck in a slow and endless march to work, seas of grey metal in a dark multi-story office car park with the odd red or yellow specimen parked under a sign proclaiming “Reserved for Marketing”. Suzuki certainly recognized this with the launch of their brand-new Vitara.
MAN Truck & Bus SA
With a history dating back to 1906, family-owned Namibian automotive company, Metje + Ziegler Group, officially opened a new MAN sales and servicing dealership in Windhoek on 20 October 2015, to meet growing demand in the region for both MAN and Volkswagen trucks and buses.
As a belated happy birthday to Namibia, we’ve made a wee list of some cars which were also born in 1990.
The new jam
The Opel Adam is an important little car. With the German manufacturer reeling from internal struggles and slumping sales, Adam represents the spearhead of their new market onslaught. Named after Opel’s founder Adam Opel, it’s akin to Ford calling their new car “Henry”. It’s a big deal.

But the 2014 General Tyre 4×4 African Adventure did just that and completed the tour of some southern Namibia’s most scenic and remote destinations with a convoy of eight vehicles over 11 days.

Windhoek, 12 May 2014. Viglietti Motors, in collaboration with Ferrari international partner Shell, will be revisiting Namibia with the Ferrari brand in June 2014, after a successful outing in 2013 warranted more attention from the iconic Italian marque on Namibian soil.
BMW is al jare lank gevestig in Suid-Afrika, reeds vóór die Tweede Wêreldoorlog het daar al van die legendariese 328 sportmotors op die gruispaaie van destyds stof opgeskop. Daarna is daar enkele BMW 501 in die vyftigerjare deur ‘n trekkermaatskappy ingevoer maar die verouderde bakwerk van die motors het nie juis byval gevind nie, al was hulle met V8 enjins toegerus!
