South Africans and Namibians have both had a long-lasting love affair with Alfa Romeo’s delectable Giulia. The passionate relationship (for Alfisti, at least) started 55 years ago when the original Giulia, the Tipo 105 Berlina, and its subsequent sub-types became the first Alfa model range to be built in South Africa in substantial numbers.
Right, so you live in Suburbia, have a couple of kids and lead an active lifestyle. Stand around any respectable Namibian braai and most attendees would strongly advise Toyota’s recurrent Fortuner, but we at NamWheels would like to suggest the new Chevrolet Trailblazer…
So you’re on your way to buy a new Chevy Sonic or finally order that big Honda Accord. Bad news – you’ll only find those on crunchy gravel forecourts laced with colourful bunting and misspelled slogans. For your entertainment (or misery) we’ve made a small list of cars that are no more.
Most people fit into some sort of mold; a neatly-defined spectrum of their main characteristics. Fast forward beyond the artists, accountants or analysts and you eventually stumble upon a very unique group called “explorers”.
So here’s something different. Each year we list our favourite new cars which were launched over the last 12 months but this time around, instead of us telling you which ones we liked, our Facebook page invited YOU to vote your favourite new ride of 2016.
The list of candidates was chosen from the launches we attended or vehicles we thought were brilliant newcomers and worthy of being included in this line-up.

General Motors South Africa were kind enough to take a handful of motoring journalists into the dunes of the Namib for two days to sample the all new Isuzu KB300 to see ho wit stacks up against not only the competition, but its older brother.
As of July 2016, new and used vehicles, light bulbs and tyres sold in Namibia are subject to a carbon tax.
We all know them, those long ribbons of tarmac which lead us to the next Namibian town. Usually dead-straight, kissing the hazy horizon and made from 50 shades of grey. Out here you need a proper car, something comfortable with good road-holding, great tunes and a fuel-efficient engine.
