Please accept my apologies for only putting fingers to keyboard now, even though we parted ways a few weeks ago. I won’t give you the whole “it’s not you, it’s me” routine but have to note that I was extremely busy recently.
Many moons ago, I wrote that some things never change. It may be the only constant in the universe but some leopards just don’t fancy changing their spots. This is a good thing. Especially since it applies to the same car I described back then – the Honda Accord.

Testing a hybrid automobile isn’t a very pleasurable experience for a motoring journalist and/or petrol-head. I would imagine it feels like a food critic having to evaluate an instant diet meal because the media alleges that we’re getting too fat and we’re running out of milk.
Please excuse my nonsensical ramblings this week; I’ve just had two of my wisdom teeth extracted. Despite being twice as stupid as before, I finally decided to compose a comparative test between two cars I drove back-to-back: the new Honda Ballade and Renault Fluence.
Many cars have left their mark on the South African market, some more than others, and few as successfully as the original Honda Ballade. The unique local name for what was essentially a Civic disappeared long before its antiquated, price-busting Citi and Tazz competitors did.
First impressions are vital but can often be misleading. Actually I was supposed to tell you about the new Honda CRZ Hybrid today but a slight mishap landed me in the driver’s seat of the equally hybrid Honda Insight. And my initial impressions were rather mixed…
My records allege that I already tested the 5-door Turbo-diesel Honda Civic over two years ago but that didn’t stop me from grabbing the key and taking it home for a week. Nothing much seems to have changed and the four-year-old still looks like an extraterrestrial Mom’s taxi.
Ons beurt om die Honda Accord stasiewa te toets, nadat hy al ‘n jaar op die mark is, was nou een van die aangenaamste verrassings in ‘n lang tyd. Stasiewaens verkoop nie eintlik regtig goed in Namibië of Suid-Afrika nie; anders as in Duitsland waar BMW, Mercedes en Audi volop is en hulle op die Autobahn amper harder gery word as Porsches.
