Last weekend I found myself at a party and had to endure that evergreen question again: what’s the best car I’ve ever driven? It’s taken me a few years to figure out the answer and it comes in a bunch of return questions: what’s the best song you’ve ever heard? Best wine you ever had?
Met hierdie slagspreuk hot but smart het Suzuki so pas sy opgegradeerde Swift Sport bekend gestel en mik hulle daarna om ongeveer 150 eenhede per maand te verkoop.
Suzuki is in Suid-Afrika bekend vir hulle klein 4×4 voertuie, die Jimny en Vitara asook klein luikrug modelle, die Alto en Swift en dan hulle natuurlik ‘n lang geskiedenis as vervaardigers van motorfietse.
Verby is die dae waar jy met die koop van ‘n intreevlak motor met net die basiese tevrede moes wees. Die nuwe opgeknapte i10 stel nuwe standaarde vir klein motors teen ‘n bekostigbare prys. Die i10 spog met ‘n hele lys van standaard kenmerke wat mens onlangs net in duurder modelle aangetref het.
Suzuki South Africa recently launched the new rendition of their funky B-segment contender, the Swift. Blessed with cute looks, a peppy engine and responsive chassis, I always promoted the little nugget over the sheepish masses’ choice of competing Japanese and German products.
Met die herbekendstelling van die klein Suzuki, die Jimny 4×4, ‘n jaar of drie gelede, moes my gedagtes teruggaan na my eerste kennismaking met die Suzuki jeepie by ‘n Suzuki handelaar in Angola in 1973. Ons het slegs die legendariese motorfietse in Suid-Afrika en so ‘n klein broodwaentjie/bakkie.
In a few minutes it will be 10h10 on the 10th of the 10th 2010. Or ’10, if you like. As I failed to arrange a wedding, birth, divorce or other memorable event for this significant date it will have to mark the creation of my Suzuki SX4 CVT review.
By the time you read this the chaps at Suzuki should have calmed down to a mild panic. Firstly, I put astronomical mileage on the Swift Sport press demonstrator and then I evaded most of their attempts to reclaim the car.
Reviewing a cheap hatchback isn’t as simple as it may seem. Yes, they are devoid of radar-guided twin-climate subwoofers but unlike the 6-figure monsters we occasionally test, they represent the other end of the automotive scale. The end where most people, yours truly included, tend to shop.
Good news and bad news. The good news is that I’ve just tested an automotive icon which most of my peers describe in an animated fashion; the bad news is that I haven’t got the foggiest idea how to review it.
