So it’s finally holiday time and you’re off to the coast with your boat to visit the in-laws. Or perhaps your daughter got a new horse for Christmas? In both cases you have our sympathy.
Jokes aside though, here’s our little list of cars that can tow big loads, arranged by number of models and total weight. Please note that we based this list on manufacturer’s figures and advise that you confirm any data with your local retailer.
What you need to know: The Mercedes CLS is a four-door coupé, which means that it’s technically a two-door car with four doors. This brazen contradiction is quite elegant and practical though, proven by the CLS’ popularity – built since the mid 2000’s, this model is the second generation of this car.
Sometimes my friends and acquaintances can be cruel. Downright rude, even. If I had a Rand for every time I heard “Meh, is that your car for this week?” or “When are you testing a Ferrari?” I’d have, oh, about N$28 now. Dit is vanjaar sestig jaar wat koningin Elizabeth ll as Britse vorstin regeer en ons het al heelwat oor hierdie mylpaal te hore en te siene gekry; vanaf BBC televisie tot stories in Die Huisgenoot met foto’s oor hierdie merkwaardige vrou en natuurlik ook die troonopvolgers met hulle huwelike, hoogtepunte en laagtepunte.
Pass the caviar and that black credit card; I’m still high from driving a car so superior and luxurious that only real Beluga and serious retail therapy will cure my withdrawal symptoms. The Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG is near the top of Merc’s price list and makes damn sure you (and others) know about it.
The list of things I’m scared of has just grown; again. Right behind Tequila, cameras in bushes, spiders that are bigger than my shoe and the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX comes the 2010 Subaru WRX.

Reviewing a cheap hatchback isn’t as simple as it may seem. Yes, they are devoid of radar-guided twin-climate subwoofers but unlike the 6-figure monsters we occasionally test, they represent the other end of the automotive scale. The end where most people, yours truly included, tend to shop.
Last week I was presented with a bit of a problem. The instance that the cheerful Renault guys dropped off a brand-new Grand Scenic at my home I realised that I had no proper means of testing it. With so much room at my disposal it became abundantly clear that I had no wife and hence, even fewer children to strap to its modern seats.
