Top 5: Tow Vehicles
So it’s finally holiday time and you’re off to the coast with your boat to visit the in-laws. Or perhaps your daughter got a new horse for Christmas? In both cases you have our sympathy.
Jokes aside though, here’s our little list of cars that can tow big loads, arranged by number of models and total weight. Please note that we based this list on manufacturer’s figures and advise that you confirm any data with your local retailer.

The smoother coincidence
Recent events have shoved the giant car maker Volkswagen onto its back feet but the colossus is using this situation to leap up with new focus and new products. Although it’s probably coincidence, their timing couldn’t have been better to introduce the new-generation Passat in southern Africa.
Sprint Review: Audi A6 1.8 TFSi
One new car, plenty of information in random bits.
What you need to know: The Audi A6 is a medium luxury sedan which, while hugely popular overseas, joins its brethren from Mercedes and BMW in the friend zone. Everyone respects them but buys their smaller brothers (A4, C-Class and 3-Series) while lusting after the big A8, S-Class or Seven Series.
Top 5: Light Systems
This time we focus on one of thee most important features a new car can offer – its headlights. Available with multiple assistants and very cool names, these systems are adapted to each vehicle and offer the driver maximum light in most situations. LED (light emitting diodes) are the current forerunners but we are still fond of a good Xenon setup. And what does the future hold? The next step in automotive lighting is lasers. Beam us up!

Dit gebeur nie elke dag dat ons opeenvolgend die “intreemodel” en een van die topmodelle van ‘n vervaardiger ná mekaar ontvang nie. In hierdie geval was dit Audi se A1 en die groot A6, twee modelle waarin die groot broer amper twee maal duurder is as die kleiner een.

The Audi A1 first saw the light of day in 2010 so – as is the way with modern cars – it was recently upgraded to give it an automotive shot in the arm before the new version comes along in a few years. I’ve learnt quite a number of things about this car since 2010 and also after my recent test of this A1 1.8 TFSi Sportback.

So you live in Outjo but work in Gobabis?
Don’t fear, we’ve made a list of cars that can go the furthest on one filling of the tank. You know, when the attendant does that whole click-click nozzle trick. Of course we need to remind you that these figures are based on claimed consumption and tank figures, your results may vary and depend on driving style, load and prevailing conditions. If you’re a high miler though, this list is a good start.

The cool hype
Indifference. It’s taken me quite a while to find that word as it perfectly describes my sentiments about our most recent test car – the Audi TT. While I can’t find anything majorly wrong with this new one, or indeed the two preceding models, it just leaves me completely and utterly cold.

Anatomie van ‘n supermotor
Wat gee jy vir die man wat reeds alles het? ‘n Volvo S60 T6. Hoekom? Sy BMW 3-reeks en sy Audi A4 en sy Mercedes C-klas is almal al gekaap. Die kanse dat sy Volvo gekaap gaan word, is heelwat minder. Maar die mindere kans beteken nie dat dit ‘n mindere motor is nie; inteendeel, die Sweed hang saam met die bestes uit wat kwaliteit, toerusting, verrigting en prys betref. Saamgevat, waarde vir geld.
