“Two Bar” is the fitting nickname for Namlog’s Hino 500-Series 1324 freight carrier that has covered more than 2.3-million kilometres since it was purchased new in 2009. It certainly carries its age well and does not look like a truck that has covered a distance equal to going around the earth almost 60 times!

Toyota’s cheapy Etios range is available in hatchback or sedan shape with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and three spec levels – Xi, Cross (hatchback only) or this “Sprint” version.

What you need to know: The Toyota Prius was the first petrol-electric hybrid vehicle to go into mass production around 1997 and its maker sold about nine million hybrids since (including Lexus). 2,900 of those were in bakkie-mad, long-distance southern Africa. Exact Namibian sales numbers unknown…
So here’s something different. Each year we list our favourite new cars which were launched over the last 12 months but this time around, instead of us telling you which ones we liked, our Facebook page invited YOU to vote your favourite new ride of 2016.
The list of candidates was chosen from the launches we attended or vehicles we thought were brilliant newcomers and worthy of being included in this line-up.

Ontwerp om ‘n tussenganger van die destydse Condor en die Prado modelle te wees, het hierdie voertuig ‘n relatief goedkoper opsie aan die koper gebied. Dit sou ook op die Hilux DNA ontwerp word en uiteraard ook dieselfde karaktereienskappe bevat.
Met die bekendstelling van die nuwe Hilux ‘n tyd gelede het ons die subtitel “Die taai stryd wat kom…” gebruik. Die stryd waarna verwys was, het te doen gehad met Ford wat met sy Ranger bakkie daarin geslaag het om die Hilux se verkope ‘n paar keer die loef af te steek. Soos almal weet, het die nuwe Toyota die eerste maand al die bordjies verhang.
